Before the Snow: Late-Fall Luxury Driving in an Electric Porsche Taycan Turbo
There is a short window in Montréal, Laval, Gatineau and Ottawa when the city feels different. The leaves are down, the mornings are crisp, the light fades early and the streets shine after the rain. Real snow has not arrived yet. This is the in-between month, and it may be the most atmospheric time of year to be behind the wheel.
It is also an ideal time for a Porsche Taycan Turbo.
Why late fall suits an electric Porsche
An all-electric drivetrain is calm by nature. There is no engine note to fill the cabin, just smooth, immediate power when you ask for it. On a dark November evening, with the city lights reflecting on wet pavement, that quiet is part of the luxury.
The Taycan Turbo we offer is a white 2021 model with dual electric motors and all-wheel drive. It delivers 670 hp, goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds and reaches a top speed of 260 km/h. It also seats five, so it works as easily for a group dinner as it does for a solo drive.
Three ways to enjoy it
• A city evening. Dinner in Old Montréal, a show downtown, or a night out in Laval. Arrive in a car that turns heads without making a sound.
• A weekend trip. Head out of town for a getaway, or make the drive between Montréal and Ottawa part of the experience rather than a chore.
• A business week. Meetings across the region are easier when the car is comfortable, composed and refined. Electric cars also carry no fuel charge with us, which means one less thing to think about at return.
A note on winter rules
In Québec, winter tires are mandatory from December 1 to March 15 inclusive, and the rule applies to rental passenger vehicles too. November is the stretch just before that deadline, which is part of why it feels like a last chance for relaxed, open-road driving before the season changes.
Cold-weather EV tips
Every electric car loses some battery power in the cold, and a few habits help. These follow guidance from Porsche.
• Precondition before you leave. Warming the battery and cabin while the car is still plugged in improves efficiency. Depending on the car, this can be done with a departure timer or the My Porsche app.
• Use the seat and wheel heaters, if equipped. Heated seats and a heated steering wheel use less energy than heating the whole cabin.
• Check your tire pressure. It drops when temperatures fall.
• Plan your charging stops. A quick look at your route before you go keeps the trip relaxed.
• Drive smoothly. Gentle inputs and slightly lower highway speeds help your range.
Delivery that fits your schedule
If you would rather not come to us, delivery is a flat $99 each way in Greater Montréal, or $119.99 each way to and from YUL. Our fleet is 40+ cars, so if the Taycan does not suit your plans, there is likely another car that does. Ask us about Gatineau and Ottawa when you reserve.
